Colocation

On-site data centres can be expensive to set up.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Teraco Data Centres to provide hosted solutions that deliver the highest levels of security, an optimal operating environment and unparalleled business continuity. Moving off-site and opting for a hybrid IT infrastructure model reduces the amount of infrastructure management required, freeing up time and money to focus on the technology that moves your business forward.

Teraco offer the greatest connectivity and interconnection choice on the continent. It’s no surprise that they have more than 480 organisations co-located within their centres, and have become our partner of choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Colocation (sometimes referred to as “Carrier Hotel” or “Physical Hosting”) is the practice of placing client owned physical infrastructure into Saicom provided rackspace.

Teraco offers world class data centre facilities which include a wide variety of networking options, the highest level of guaranteed uptime, stringent security and optimal operating conditions.

Cloud hosting allows the customer the ability to consume compute services without having to worry about the physical hardware it runs on, whereas colocation gives the customer the control of the entire solution from hardware all the way through to the application.

Power redundancy, fire or flood protection, power cooling and physical security are all factors that need to be considered in running a stable hardware environment. Maintaining this type of environment can be extremely costly and require specific expertise in the field. Colocation services take these concerns away from the customer and allow them to focus on what is most important for their business.

Customers can also use colocation as a step toward cloud migration without relinquishing control of their physical hardware assets (such as physical servers) and maintain complete control over every aspect of their business systems. Changes can be made as and when it is required without having to rely on a third party service provider.

Our colocation product has multiple connectivity options to choose from which offers secure remote access. This can be customised to suit the client’s needs.

Our colocation data center provides an optimal running environment for the customer’s physical hardware in a managed facility, but in no way provides any party access to your data in any way. Strict measures are put in place by both Saicom and Teraco in order to ensure this.

Our colocation product has both dedicated and shared colocation options. In both cases only our employees and the customer will have access to the environment. In the case of shared colocation a Saicom employee will be present when access is required by a specific customer to ensure only that customer’s equipment is handled.

As the requirements for each organisation are unique, please complete our enquiry form and one of our expert consultants will contact you about the best colocation provider in South Africa.

Currently colocation is only available to our South African customers.
